My old reading glasses 👓 just weren't cutting it anymore 😩.
As an avid reader and someone who spends countless hours in front of screens, I found myself in a familiar bind recently: my old reading glasses just weren't cutting it anymore. They were generic, uncomfortable after long wear, and frankly, quite boring. My eyes would often feel strained after a few hours of reading or working on my laptop, a pain point I knew many others shared. I craved something that wasn't just functional but also stylish, a pair of glasses that reflected my personality while providing much-needed relief from digital eye strain. It was this dual need for comfort and aesthetics that sent me down the rabbit hole of online optical shops. I wanted a pair that truly felt like me, something vintage-inspired yet modern in its lens technology.
My search eventually led me to Cinily Eyewear, where I stumbled upon their captivating selection. The specific item that caught my eye was the Handmade Vintage Small Round Frame Prescription Glasses. The vintage oval shape and the promise of anti-blue light technology seemed like the perfect combination. However, I must admit, I approached the purchase with a degree of caution. While browsing reviews, I came across some concerning feedback about the ordering process and customer service. One customer, Meka Simms, shared a particularly frustrating experience: "I ordered two pair of glasses from Cinily Eyewear when they had there but one get one sale. I placed my order February 13th [2024] and still don’t have my glasses. There were multiple issues first they sold glasses that were not in stock so they notified me to pick another style. Since I was unconvinced they promised me expedited shipping plus an extra 25 towards my order. I replied back with an update and never got a response back. I had to call them so I can replace my order. After I updated my order I was told that they would let me know that my order was in process, once again I didn’t hear back and had to contact them to check that the order went through. It had not. After about a week my order says it was shipped but not expedited so I called to check and was told it was expedited then I received an email that it will take 5-7 business days and that it was rush shipping. Since when is rush shipping 5-7 days. I have ordered from Zenni, Warby Parker eye buy direct and have never experienced this tile of poor customer service. I recommend them to about 10 people and had to turn right back around to tell them not to buy from here. I see this place has almost 5 stars sooo I’m not sure if that’s real or they just pick and choose when to have good customer service. I am highly disappointed with them and their service." This kind of review certainly gave me pause, especially regarding the seemingly inconsistent shipping and communication. Nevertheless, the unique design of the frames was too tempting to resist, and I decided to take a chance, hoping my experience would be smoother.
When the package finally arrived – thankfully without the extensive delays Meka Simms faced, though it took a solid two weeks which felt like an eternity for "rush shipping" – I was genuinely excited. The packaging was simple yet secure, nothing overly fancy, but it protected the glasses well. As I carefully pulled out the Handmade Vintage Small Round Frame Prescription Glasses, my first impression was largely positive. The frames felt sturdy and well-crafted, with a smooth finish that suggested attention to detail. The small, round shape was exactly what I’d envisioned – truly vintage. They felt lighter than my old pair, which was a welcome surprise. While some customers, like Juan Pelissier de Neufville, expressed concerns about glasses being "cheaply made" and breaking easily (mentioning a Prada pair that broke while cleaning), my initial assessment of these specific frames was that they felt quite robust for their delicate appearance. They certainly met my visual expectations based on the website photos.
In terms of actual usage, these glasses have been a mixed bag, yet mostly positive for my specific needs. The anti-blue light feature is a noticeable improvement; my eyes feel significantly less fatigued after long hours in front of the computer, which was my primary pain point. The fit is snug and comfortable, truly handmade as advertised, and they don't slide down my nose like previous pairs. The aesthetic, as expected, is a huge win for me – I’ve received several compliments on their unique vintage charm. However, I can't ignore the recurrent themes in other customer reviews. The shipping, as mentioned by Braden Bell, "Terrible company. Ordered glasses March 30th [2025], paid for express shipping 3-5 because my old glasses broke. Day 5 roles around still in production, day 10 still in production. Day 11 I call to ask for a shipping refund, they seemed like they do it all the time by the way she responded." This echoes Meka Simms' frustration about shipping times and the company's definition of "rush shipping." While my order did arrive, the delivery timeline was certainly not "rush" by any standard. There's also the concern raised by Hector G about "SCAM company with bad tactics. Contacts showed a price of $38 per box. At checkout it becomes $78 per box. They add $40 per box processing fee." Fortunately, I didn't encounter hidden fees with my glasses order, but these comments highlight potential inconsistencies in pricing transparency for other products. It seems Cinily Eyewear might have some kinks to work out in their operational and customer service departments.
In conclusion, my personal experience with the Handmade Vintage Small Round Frame Prescription Glasses from Cinily Eyewear has been largely positive regarding the product itself. The frames are stylish, comfortable, and the anti-blue light lenses perform as expected, genuinely alleviating my eye strain. They've become my go-to reading and computer glasses, making me feel both productive and fashionable. Therefore, I would recommend this specific product to anyone looking for unique, vintage-style prescription glasses with anti-blue light features, especially if aesthetics are a high priority. However, prospective buyers should be aware of the potential for inconsistent shipping times and customer service issues, as highlighted by numerous other reviews. If you have a specific deadline or are wary of potential communication hiccups, it might be wise to manage your expectations or perhaps reach out to customer service proactively, something I thankfully didn't have to do beyond initial order confirmation. While my experience was favorable, it's clear the company has areas for improvement in standardizing their customer journey.
